Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about processing files securely in your browser
What is an N-Up PDF & Notes Printer?
An N-Up PDF printer is a tool that compiles multiple pages (slides, documents, or photos) onto a single sheet of paper (e.g., 2, 4, 6, or 9 pages per sheet). Our tool takes this a step further by letting you generate customized notes sheets—like PowerPoint-style handouts or Cornell notes—with ruled lines for writing right next to or underneath your slides.
How does the Ink-Saver Mode work?
Many lecture slides use dark backgrounds (dark mode), which consume massive amounts of printer ink and toner. When you enable our Ink-Saver Mode, the tool analyzes each page client-side. If it detects a dark background, it dynamically inverts the background to white and turns light text dark, preserving print readability while saving your printer ink.
Is my uploaded PDF or slide data secure?
Absolutely. All processing occurs locally in your browser sandbox. None of your files, images, or notes are uploaded to any server or processed remotely, making it 100% private, secure, and offline-capable.
Can I combine images instead of a PDF?
Yes! Our tool supports both PDF documents and standard image files (PNG, JPEG, WebP, SVG). You can upload a single PDF, multiple PDFs, or a collection of slide screenshots, and they will be compiled into your chosen handout or notes layout sequentially.
Can I print plain text files or study notes?
Yes! You can upload plain text files (.txt) directly. The tool will automatically paginate and format the text into clean, standard-ruled pages client-side using pdf-lib, which can then be printed N-up like any other slide deck or document.
How do I print the layout directly without downloading a PDF first?
Simply click the "Print Document" button. The tool will prepare high-resolution print pages behind the scenes and launch your browser's native print dialog. Our CSS styling automatically hides the webpage interface, so only your compiled sheets are sent to the printer.
