Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about processing files securely in your browser
What subtitle formats can I shift and sync?
This tool supports SRT (SubRip) and VTT (WebGL/HTML5 Video Text Tracks) subtitle files, which are the most common formats for media player and web compatibility.
What is the difference between delaying and hastening subtitles?
Delaying (shifting forward) makes subtitles appear later in the video, useful if the audio is behind. Hastening (shifting backward) makes subtitles appear earlier, useful if the audio is ahead.
Does this tool upload my subtitle files?
No. Your subtitle files are parsed and adjusted completely in-browser. No text or media files are transmitted over the internet, keeping your captions completely confidential.
How precise is the time shifting?
The shifter works at the millisecond (ms) level (1000ms = 1 second). You can input precise shift durations to align subtitles perfectly with the voice track.
Can I shift subtitles by a negative time value?
Yes. By selecting the 'Hasten Subtitles (Backward)' option, you shift timestamps by a negative offset relative to the original timeline.
